Data Centres & Critical Facilities

Data centres and critical facilities are a growing focus for PLANEST. We support operators, developers and delivery teams with architectural design, spatial planning and coordination: the layer that turns technical requirements into a building that can be approved, built and maintained.

What we contribute

  • Early-stage feasibility, site and massing studies

  • Planning drawings and local authority engagement

  • Spatial coordination of technical space, plant, access and maintenance routes

  • Civil-works interfaces and external works coordination

  • Revit/BIM models and coordinated drawing packages

How we work

Specialist mechanical, electrical, cooling and fire engineering is led by the relevant consultants. Our role is to bring their requirements together into a clear, compliant and buildable design, and to keep that information coordinated as the project develops.

Research behind the work

Design exploration and applied research run through our sister studio, MOLD Design Lab: Scan-to-BIM, Revit automation and AI-assisted design workflows. MOLD explores and tests; PLANEST focuses on delivery, coordination and compliance.

Burak Tosun, who leads both studios, writes about why data centres became a research question and how new tools are changing design practice: read his notes on the PLANEST blog.
